COVID-19 Safety
Comprehensive preparations were made to protect voters from possible infection while casting
ballots, by way of disinfecting voting stations, marking the standing line at a distance of at 1.5 meter
each, and providing voters with disposable plastic gloves and face masks. All 2,070 polling stations
were disinfected and provided with disposable protective face masks and gloves for distribution to the
voters to prevent COVID-19 infections. Voters, who wear face masks, have had their body temperature
checked and rubbed their hands with sanitizer, were allowed to enter the voting booths. Further, voters
were prohibited from bringing children under the age of 18 to the polling stations.
Briefly stating, General Election Committee’s (GEC’s) initiative to conduct COVID-19 safe election
included following measures:
• Polling stations shall be cleaned and disinfected prior to voting day.
• Gatherings inside and outside the polling station shall be avoided.
• Voters shall be temperature checked, wear face masks and wash their hands with hand sanitizer
