                      Mongolia




                      Parliamentary Elections – June 24, 2020





                      Mongolia  is the second country after South  Korea to hold national  elections during the  COVID-19
                      pandemic. It   closed its borders and forced many to stay home to avoid infection and evolved a series
                      of COVID-19 safety guidelines. Policy Response on Containment in Mongolia right from 13 Feb. 2020
                      – included  inter alia the following measures:

                       •   Authorities declared the state of high alert;
                       •   Travel ban from high-risk countries;
                       •   Temporary suspension of coal exports to neighbouring countries.

                       •   Social distancing
                       •   Public events cancellations;

                       •   School and university closures 10 Mar 2020;
                       •   Government places Ulaanbaatar and other cities on lockdown;
                       •   27 May 2020: Mongolia to extend border closure till 30 June 2020.

                      A parliamentary democracy with a first-past-the-post electoral system, Mongolia conducted  their
                      parliamentary elections on June 24, 2020. Mongolian voters went to the polls on June 24, 2020, the
                      Wednesday for regular elections amid the COVID-19 pandemic. A total of 35,772 civil servants worked
