ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
It is indeed a pleasure to present to you the document ‘Ready Reckoner’
containing ‘Brief Profiles of Countries, EMB’s and Partner Organizations of
A-WEB’. The Document provides ‘One Stop’ valuable information relating
to Members and Partner Organizations of the A-WEB for ready reference,
Knowledge Sharing in experiences, best practices in elections and electoral
process. It is intended to enhance interaction among the A-WEB Communi-
ty in furtherance of the vision and mission of the A-WEB.
The task of looking at the electoral systems and country profiles of 106
countries, howsoever limited or precise it may be, is gigantic, challenging
and complex in dimensions; yet, a satisfying and interesting experience es-
pecially when a major of the work has been carried out despite COVID-19.
It is my proud privilege to heartily thank Mr. Sunil Arora, Hon’ble Chief
Election Commissioner of India and Chairperson A-WEB and his wor-
thy colleagues Mr. Sushil Chandra and Mr. Rajiv Kumar, Hon’ble Election
Commissioners for their visionary approach in perceiving and setting
up of the India A-WEB Centre at the ECI, New Delhi. The Strategic
Action Plan 2020-24 of the Centre approved by the Commission envisages
world class documentation, research and training at the Centre to benefit
the A-WEB Community. The ‘Ready Reckoner’ is one of the first initiatives
of the Centre.
I express my gratitude to Mr Umesh Sinha, Secretary General, ECI, Head
and Senior Advisor, India A-WEB Centre for his visionary approach, valuable
guidance and support at every step in conceptualizing and developing this
document to be followed by many more such documents for the benefit of
the A-WEB Community.
I am very grateful to Mr Jonghyun Choe Secretary General, A-WEB and his
Secretariat for very prompt help in interacting with the A-WEB community
for updating and correcting the draft databases. The response has helped
us in substantive improvement in the quality of the databases.
I take this opportunity to thank Ms A Mona Srinivas, Director, Mr P K
Sharma, Secretary, Mr K P Singh Under Secretary, Mr V K Sharma, Consul-
tant in International Cooperation Division for their valuable and continued
support for this work.
Ms Soniya Sharma, Ms Neha and Ms Hringkan Sumpi, Consultants in the
International Cooperation Division who are the key members of our team
deserve my special appreciation and thanks for their dedicated and sincere
hard work in developing the document; and for their painstaking efforts in
